After failing to land Marco Asensio this summer, Aston Villa will put everything on the line to sign Nico Williams. The Villans are prepared to pay the €50 million price, claims ‘Marca’.
Aston Villa is now focusing on Nico Williams after missing out on Marco Asensio. Unai Emery, the club’s manager, is interested in the winger because he wants to make a significant acquisition this summer.
The English team had already made an inquiry about the Athletic Bilbao player, whose contract runs through 2024, but Williams opted to defer making a choice until the end of the current campaign.
‘Marca’ claimed that Villa would be willing to pay €50 million to end his contract. Athletic has made the winger a renewal offer, but it looks more likely that he will leave and join the Premier League.
The English club’s offer, which is significantly more than what the Spaniards could give him, is roughly €7 million per year. Inigo Martinez hasn’t received a new contract from Bilbao yet, however Oihan Sancet will return for the 2019–20 campaign.
Nico is a tremendous young talent at the age of 20, and he even joined the national team to compete in the World Cup. The younger Williams was the subject of a significant wager by Luis Enrique in Qatar, but owing to a sprained knee, he will be absent from the Nations League alongside Luis de la Fuente.
