On Monday, Southampton rejected Liverpool’s third offer for Romeo Lavia, valued at £45 million, as the club continues to demand £50 million.
WHAT OCCURED? Liverpool’s third offer of £45 million ($57 million) was turned down by Southampton, who are determined to hang onto their star player until they receive their asking price of £50 million ($63 million). Liverpool great Jamie Carragher criticized the club for not being able to complete the Romeo Lavia transfer sooner.
If his previous team doesn’t want to meet the Saints’ demand, Carragher suggested them to walk away from the deal and instead compete with Chelsea to acquire Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
WHAT THEY SAY: Carragher stated on Twitter, “This is embarrassing. Liverpool has a reputation for closing deals fast and amicably. If you don’t believe he’s worth $50 million, move on; if you do, make the payment. I’m also perplexed as to why LFC isn’t interested in Caicedo; yeah, the price is high, but Jordan Henderson and Fabinho cost Liverpool a lot of money.
WHAT WILL ROMEO LAVIA DO NEXT? Lavia wants to leave Southampton this season and apparently has personal arrangements in place with Liverpool. International player from Belgium will now be hoping that Reds match Saints’ demand and sign him.
