The same people who sought Mohamed Salah apparently wanted a £100 million star whose future would be decided by Liverpool.
According to reports, Liverpool made a huge £100 million bid for Newcastle player Bruno Guimaraes before the summer transfer window closed. It creates the prospect that Newcastle’s Saudi owners will ultimately succeed in luring Mohamed Salah to the Middle East in a January deal.
The midfield for the Reds underwent significant summertime modifications. Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister all joined Anfield for a total of £145 million.
Nevertheless, according to rumors in the Spanish media, Liverpool also made a dizzying nine-figure offer for Toon star Guimaraes. It followed the Reds’ unsuccessful £115 million bid for Moises Caicedo, who switched to Chelsea from Brighton.
Newcastle reportedly turned down the approach for their star player, according to the Spanish publication AS. When the winter transfer window opens in the new year, it might result in another offer, though.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund, the principal owner of Newcastle, may even consider it as a chance to wrest Salah away from Merseyside. In the final week of the transfer window, defending Pro League winners Al-Ittihad—which is mainly controlled by PIF—made an outrageous £150 million offer for the Egyptian.
A second, £200 million approach was anticipated to be made before the Saudi transfer window closed on September 7. Salah stayed with Liverpool, though, and has been instrumental in their strong Premier League start
