How Joe Mazzulla of the Celtics Feels About Charles Barkley’s Chirp

Charles Barkley was not pleased with Joe Mazzulla’s unconventional gamesmanship strategy during the Suns-Celtics game last week.

After play was suspended at TD Garden in the fourth quarter, Royce O’Neale attempted to get a shot up, but Mazzulla made it difficult for the Phoenix forward. Before huddleing up with his players for a timeout, the Celtics coach made his way onto the court and attempted to block the shot.

Barkley claimed he would have “knocked the hell” out of Mazzulla if he had been in O’Neale’s position, therefore it wasn’t funny. Mazzulla welcomed that danger when he spoke on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak and Bertrand” on Wednesday.

According to MassLive’s transcription, Mazzulla stated, “I’m always up to get knocked out.” That’s also significant, in my opinion. ..I’m not sure what you do if all you can do is hope that you don’t pass out during the day.

You won’t be witnessing the Celtics head coach’s shot-blocking antics anymore, even though it’s obvious that he isn’t scared of the possible repercussions. Mazzulla disclosed prior to Wednesday’s victory over the Milwaukee Bucks that he was informed he was no longer able to perform.

Naturally, Boston doesn’t really require an advantage over other cities. With 13 games remaining in the regular season, the C’s lead the Eastern Conference standings by an 11-game margin.
