Jayson Tatum, a player for the Boston Celtics, has been putting up a compelling argument for himself to win NBA MVP.
In the month preceding the All-Star break, Tatum averaged 28.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He has been really good.
He played against the Brooklyn Nets and scored an incredible 41 points.
In all, Tatum is guiding the Celtics to a league-best 43-12 record with averages of 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith feels that Tatum is a worthy MVP candidate, and former Celtic Kendrick Perkins concurs.
“I’m voting Tatum” for MVP if the season ended tonight, said Kendrick Perkins.
“Oh, I see. Jayson Tatum is my choice.”
Forsberg was told by Perkins.
“This is my criterion if the season ended today: the best player with the best record. That’s what he’s doing. People are unaware of the costs Tatum had to bear. He currently averages about 27 points and 8 and a half rebounds each game. That is a monstrosity. In addition, he is shooting 55 percent or almost that in terms of 2-point field goals made.
“Look, I think the Celtics will have the best record in the league if they finish as the overall number one seed. I’m voting for Tatum.
Given Tatum’s outstanding play and the Celtics’ success, Perkins said that if the season ended today, Tatum would be his choice for MVP.
Tatum is now sporting the seventh-best odds in the MVP betting competition.
His prospects will probably increase, though, if he continues to play at this caliber and the Celtics continue to lead the league.
Tatum is currently getting ready to participate in his fifth All-Star Game, where he will start for the Eastern Conference squad and substitute for teammate Jaylen Brown.
