For the majority of 2023, Eduardo Camavinga started at left back for Real Madrid. The young man has thrived despite this not being his natural position and has had a number of outstanding performances.
But in the second leg loss to Manchester City in the Champions League semifinal, he was severely exposed by Bernardo Silva, who scored twice and had a field day with the Frenchman.
Camavinga reportedly told Carlo Ancelotti after that game that he no longer wanted to play left back, and SPORT1 reports that he is about to get his wish as a return to midfield is in the works.
Real Madrid is reportedly considering Joao Cancelo and Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich as they attempt to expand their alternatives at left back.
Although Bayern has declared Davies to be “not for sale,” much to the chagrin of Juni Calafat and Real Madrid, both players have been linked with moves to the Spanish capital throughout this year.
Although Fran Garcia is anticipated to return in the summer, Real Madrid may feel compelled to look for a new left back in the transfer market if Ferland Mendy ends up leaving.
