The autobiographical book My Name Is Barbra, penned by Streisand, is currently up for pre-order and scheduled for release on November 7, 2023. “Many books have been written about Streisand; now, in her own words, she tells her story in My Name Is Barbra,” a Viking announcement said. The album and television special she released in 1965 are referenced in the title.
“She tells her own story about her life and extraordinary career in My Name Is Barbra,” the book’s description says. “From growing up in Brooklyn to her first star-making appearances in New York nightclubs to her breakout performance in Funny Girl (musical and film) to the long string of successes in every medium in the years that followed.”The book is candid, humorous, and real, just like Barbra
charming and strong-willed. She talks about how she struggled to make a living as an actress in the beginning and eventually turned to singing; how she recorded some of her highly regarded albums; how much work went into creating Yentl; how she directed The Prince of Tides; how she made friends with people like Madeleine Albright and Marlon Brando; how she advocated for politics; and how she found fulfillment in her marriage to James Brolin.
