According to reports, Kylian Mbappe has no interest in signing with Manchester City for a specific cause.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward reportedly informed the club earlier this week that he has no plans to extend his current contract, which is slated to expire in the summer of 2024.
He is fluent in English and, should the [Real] Madrid move not go through, there are “numerous clubs” he would consider.
According to a source, competing against Erling Haaland in England in a “battle of the stars” would be something he would likely consider doing rather than playing alongside him at Manchester City.
The Manchester club acquired Haaland from Borussia Dortmund during the previous summer transfer window in a transaction estimated to cost £51 million.
The striker scored 52 goals in 53 games during his first season with Pep Guardiola’s team, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
With 212 goals in 260 games for PSG, Mbappe has his own wealth of scoring expertise, so it stands to reason that the thought of him teaming up with Haaland would be tantalizing.
However, the assertion that the France international would prefer to compete against the City star rather than be a teammate says to us that he wouldn’t want to play alongside someone who might outscore him in terms of goal scoring.
Despite his ability to score goals, we believe that City should not waste their time attempting to sign the 24-year-old if he has no interest in doing so because of Haaland.
