Aston Villa news as it relates to Unai Emery’s team as they get ready to host West Ham at Villa Park this weekend.
Since the beginning of this season, Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, has had to deal with a number of injury setbacks.
Back in August, it was determined that Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia would miss at least the majority of the current season. Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey have also experienced difficulties due to their various injury concerns. Within the next three weeks, Moreno and Ramsey should be back in action, and they might do so prior to the November international break.
In the first two months of the season, Diego Carlos, Bertrand Traore, Boubacar Kamara, Moussa Diaby, Emi Martinez, Leon Bailey, Lender Dendoncker, and Tim Iroegbunam all experienced injury problems. Here are the most recent injury updates before Sunday’s match between Villa and West Ham (kickoff: 4.30pm).
Moreno, Alex
After sustaining a hamstring injury against Liverpool at Anfield last season, Moreno hasn’t played for Villa since the 1-1 tie. In September, the left-back was re-inducted into the matchday squad for Crystal Palace and traveled to Poland with the Villa squad to play Legia Warsaw, but he was still not at ease enough to play any time.
Ramsey’s foot issue, which sidelined him for 10 weeks throughout the summer and the beginning of this season, has recurred. He had played in the loss at Legia Warsaw last month and the victories over Chelsea and Brighton after returning from injury, but he will now miss additional weeks.
