The West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen is reportedly being watched by Liverpool in case Mohamed Salah decides to leave the club in the summer.
If Mohamed Salah leaves the Reds in 2024, according to former Liverpool player Steve McManaman, West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen would be a fine replacement.
The Saudi Pro League was heavily interested in signing the Egyptian winger this summer, but he chose to stay at Anfield, where he has started the season with eight appearances, four goals, and four assists.
Salah will be 32 years old and in the final year of his Liverpool contract when the Saudis are predicted to make another attempt to sign him up for the following season. Should he leave, the Reds may well turn to Bowen, who has previously been connected to a transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s team.
During West Ham’s away loss to the Reds on Sunday, the 26-year-old England international scored his fourth Premier League goal of the year. Bowen skillfully headed the ball past Alisson Becker to tie the score at 1-1 after Salah had scored the game’s opening goal from the penalty spot in the first half.
McManaman, who played more than 350 times for the Reds throughout the 1990s, was asked by Betfred if he thought Bowen could move to Liverpool and flourish under Klopp if Salah leaves, and he responded: “I don’t see why not. On Sunday, he appeared to be quite threatening against Liverpool, and he has recently proven to be a talented player.
“He gave Liverpool a lot of trouble, but it’s unclear if they’d want to recruit a larger name if they lost Salah and when you take into account the money they’d get for Mo.
Although he works hard, can play in the middle or on the right, and is highly dangerous, I do think Jarrod Bowen could easily fit in at Liverpool.
