FootballTransfers can confirm that Borussia Dortmund has had inquiries from a number of teams on the possibility of signing USMNT player Giovanni Reyna, including Aston Villa.
Reyna, who was once regarded as one of the best young players in the world of football, has only made 12 appearances this season and has neither assisted or scored a goal. Instead, she has essentially been Dortmund’s replacement.
This season, he has only started twice in all competitions and has only played more than half the time.
Reyna is now up for grabs, and Villa is taking into consideration the possibility of acquiring the 21-year-old, who scored seven goals in the Bundesliga in just 609 minutes of play the previous season.
According to an ESPN story, the player, who has a deal with Dortmund until 2025, is “determined” to quit the team and would only cost €15–20 million.
Reyna’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has connections to both Nottingham Forest and Wolves, two other Premier League teams who have been linked to the player this January.
However, it’s possible that the England-born athlete stays in Europe, as Real Sociedad, Sevilla, and Marseille have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the talent.
Given that Jadon Sancho’s arrival from Manchester United has reduced his chances of playing time, a January transfer is not completely out of the question.

Dortmund says Reyna may leave
The offensive midfielder is uneasy, as Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has previously acknowledged, but he also stated that he needs to work on raising his own game.
Gio suffered a lot and got hurt a lot. The lineup we have in the center makes it difficult,” he said to Sky Deutschland. “It is understandable that he could not be content right now. However, it’s as critical that he apply the gas.
Reyna’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) dropped from over €50 million a few years ago to about €24 million at this point, indicating that Dortmund may be getting a good deal on the player.
SciSports, a data analytics company, believes Reyna has the potential to be an important member of Villa’s team.
